In response to stories from local headlines and newspapers around the country describing the terror experienced by those effected by acts of violence, The Joseph Matteucci Foundation has created programs that are available to schools, students, athletes, coaches, umpires, administrators and parents teaching skills that enable participants to take a stand against violence.

Sports Emblem Program:

The Sports Emblem Program is designed to educate parents, coaches, and players of youth sport teams to the importance of good sportsmanship. The program includes Alexandra sharing the story of the loss of her son to a senseless act of violence. After taking a pledge to play in a sportsmanlike manner all participants are presented with an emblem that serves as a physical reminder of one mother's loss and the athletes pledge to play safely.

Sportsmanship Programs:

Are the Adults Role Models for the Youth in your League? Parents, coaches, umpires and other adults in your league are the key to teaching young athletes sportsmanlike behavior. Adults who are acting out put everyone involved, especially the children, at risk. The Sportsmanship Program will help to educate adults on how to promote sportsmanship to "problem parents" so the youth will have appropriate behaviors from which to model.

Through a two day interactive workshop student athletes learn strategies to achieve sportsmanship and Non-Violence in sport and in life. Through the use of performance enhancement training, team building exercises, and the use of frustration management techniques, this workshop will enable participants to seek out and foster positive interpersonal relationships promoting success and sportsmanship.
